Boundaries explores the ideas of land & water boundaries, paths and routes in the landscape.
Here, several blocks are engraved and cut using traditional wood engraving tools and gouges to make the image. Each block makes up part of a layer and used to make up one of the colours within the image. The whole process begins with drawing to make a response to the location or place. This drawing is combined with drawings of maps, and archival materials to produce a multi-layered design. The nature of ink allows for a certain amount of transparency to create a multi layered effect.
