‘Land and Sea, Past and Present I’ explores how landscapes evolve into the familiar places we inhabit and call home. Through walking, we engage in experiential narratives enriched by memory and history, shaping our sense of place through a layered palimpsest of experiences and interpretations of landscape.
This piece was made using several blocks, each contributing a distinct layer and colour to the final image. The process begins with on-site sketches, capturing an immediate response to the location. These initial drawings are then combined with maps and archival materials to create a multi-layered composition.
