‘Sighting Time’ is one of ten multi-block relief engravings in a series exploring a dog’s sense of place. The work considers how mapping territory through regular walks strengthens attachment to the landscape for both the walker and the dog. The use of grids evokes the process of mapping and plotting – a way of making sense of landscapes and defining place. Dog walking serves as a metaphor for the routines and daily experiences that connect us to our surroundings, transforming spaces into places of belonging.
