Long Time Losing comprises multiple reduction blocks using woodcut and engraving techniques in its making. It explores ideas associated with place and place making such as the dog representing attachment and experience through walking. The abstracted landscape references maps, mapping, aerial photography and scans of the North Sea sea bed. Here on the low lying Norfolk coast the term sea level rise means something tangible when thinking what lies beneath the sea and what will become archaeology. The dog is Dylan (2008-2020), a cherished companion who formed part of daily life for so many years
Long Time Losing was selected for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts – more information about the exhibition can be found on the exhibitions page
