Land and Sea, Past and Present II investigates how landscape spaces become the places we know, occupy and dwell within. Walking provides the experiential narratives that are enriched through memory and history, enabling us to make place through a palimpsest of experience and readings of landscape spaces.
Here, several blocks have been used to make the image. Consequently, each block makes up part of a layered image as well as being used to make up one of the colours within the image. The whole process begins with drawing and making a response to the location or place. This drawing is combined with drawings of maps, and archival materials to produce a multi-layered design. The nature of ink allows for a certain amount of transparency creating a multi layered effect.
